The SMCS Cheerleaders recently attended and competed in the NCA (National Cheerleading Association) 2012 Summer Camp at the University of Houston. For four days, the girls learned and perfected cheers, chants, dances and stunts that were then performed during competition on the last day of camp. Under the leadership of faculty
member, Amanda Webb, the team won the Middle School division and took home the 1st place trophy for Game Time Top Team! The team was judged on their excellence in game time entrance, crowd response and perfection of motions, stunts and skills.
In addition, the team received three superior ribbons (the highest awarded) during their team evaluations during camp. St. Michael also had six squad members nominated for All-American Cheerleader who exemplify superior cheerleading techniques. Nominees were Peyton Ditto, Isabella Garofalo, Bridget Hale, Emily Hanks, Blair Lovoi and
Grace Zappulla.
The squad also received the “Spirit Stick” one of the highest awards at NCA camp three days in a row! For all their hard work, the St. Michael Cheerleaders received a bid to the National Competition in Dallas in March!
Way to go Tiger Cheerleaders!
