St. Michael Catholic School provides a balance between spiritual growth, academic excellence and full participation in activities within a program directed at the growth of the whole person. The Middle School curriculum at St. Michael Catholic School includes Religion, Math, Science, Reading/Language Arts, History, Sacred Art History, Spanish, Art, Computer, Physical Education and chosen electives.
TECHNOLOGY - Our Middle School students utilize a one-to-one Chromebook program to help prepare our students for success in a global, technology-rich learning and working environment.
Each classroom, 6th - 8th, also has a SmartBoard and a printer. In addition, Middle School students attend computer class in and use the Mobile Mac Labs and iPad Labs in a variety of ways in the classroom.
SACRED ART HISTORY
- St. Michael Catholic School takes art education to the next level by offering a unique and exclusive Sacred Art History program for Middle School students, a first in the Houston area at this level. Thanks to the profound generosity of a parishioner couple at St. Michael Church, the program brings students into meaningful contact with significant artworks of Western civilization and encourages students to explore the development of Christian art and the role of the Church in that endeavor over many centuries. The program aims to empower young scholars to utilize visual and textual resources for research, analysis, writing, and oral communication in order to express and interpret their own approaches to works of art.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE -Middle School students use the acclaimed Duolingo application that develops comprehension, pronunciation, listening, writing and conversation skills of the Spanish language in addition to classroom instruction.
ELECTIVES- Our robust elective program includes Robotics, Yearbook, Creative Art, Prep Bowl, Speech Team, and Cocina Latina.
ADVANCED ACADEMICS - Advanced Math and Science classes are in place for both 7th and 8th grade.
COMPETITIONS - Middle School students compete in a variety of academic competitions including Speech Tournaments, Prep Bowl, Science Fairs, Spelling Bees and more.
FINE ARTS - All students in grades 6th - 8th have Art classes weekly with the option for 7th and 8th grade to expand their exposure to Fine Arts through electives and our robust Theater Arts program.
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY - Students in NJHS promote leadership and citizenship at St. Michael Catholic School. Membership in NJHS is based on outstanding scholarship, leadership and service.
HIGH SCHOOL ADMISSION - St. Michael graduates are accepted into the premier private and public schools of their choice.
