Once again, this year, our students 3rd through 8th grade will participate in the annual University of St.Thomas Essay Contest. Students write an essay describing a person who has given a life of service or a school group activity in which he/she has been involved that exemplifies work done for others -- and which has had an impact on your life and tell why.
Judges will be University of St. Thomas faculty and administrators and again, winners will be chosen from each grade level, 3rd through 12th. The awards ceremony and free luncheon immediately follow the Mass and will take place in Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center.
Winners- The top placement winners in each grade level will be called to the stage for a personal congratulations from Cardinal DiNardo, Sister Kevina and Dr. Ivany, UST’s President.
Participation Certificates – Official participation certificates will be printed for every student who participates in the contest. School folders of these will be available for pick up at the stage following the awards ceremony.
Principal Notification of Those Who Placed or Who Earned Honorable Mention – At least one week prior to the awards day, I will send an e-mail to principals, listing those students who placed or earned honorable mention.
The Wall of Honor – This is an approximate 35’ X 4’ banner which will list by school service projects or persons who were honored through the student essays. It will be hung on the gym wall. Information to be included on the Wall of Honor will be collected from the principal cover sheets.
