SMCS Middle School Athletic Program is open to all St. Michael students in 6th - 8th grade. Students are eligible to tryout and participate in Coed Soccer, Volleyball, Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Softball, Baseball and Track & Field. Tryouts for Cheer are available for students entering 7th and 8th grade. All team formations are contingent on the total number of participants registered for each program.
Participation in middle school sports is a serious commitment bu the student-athlete to attend all practices and games and by the parent to support their childs commitment to SMCS Athletics. Middle School practices are held on campus. Game locations are both home and away. Practices are held Monday through Friday directly before or after school on all non-game days. Weekend commitments are limited to championship games, Cross Country and Track & Field Meets and any team tournaments. On occasion, a coach may hold an optional weeknd practice surrounding early week games.
Medical forms and an athletic fee is required for participation in any SMCS Middle School Sport. Medical Forms are due to the school nurse prior to the start of participation/tryouts. Athletic fees and the Student-Athlete agreement are due at the conclusion of tryouts.
All SMCS Sports, with the exception of Football and Cheer, are governed by the GHCAA - Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association. Our 11 man football program participates in the GCFL - Gulf Coast Football League.
