As we prepare to break ground on our new school building and continue to move forward with our capital campaign, it is important to remind ourselves that it takes every one of us to make this vision a reality; parents, parishioners, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of St. Michael. It even includes our wonderful students.
We have launched a Student Campaign that will not only teach our students stewardship, but will give them ownership of their new school. By encouraging them to contribute their own money to the Student Campaign, we can truly say that 100% of our community is committed to the future of St. Michael.
The student campaign is off to a great start! We have raised $2,200 so far! The goal is $5,000, and once reached, the students will be rewarded with no homework for one week.
We've heard some great stories about the children's donations. For example, a first grader from Mrs. Revia's class donated her money from the tooth fairy!
We've had a wonderful offer from a donor who was impressed with the way we are involving the children in the campaign. As an added incentive, they have issued a challenge grant. If the students reach their $5,000 goal, they have generously offered to donate $2,500 to the student campaign!
This is meant to be a community effort from our entire student body. We are hopeful that the students will think of creative ways to earn allowance and extra money to participate in the student campaign. This is a fun way to involve our students in this project as we begin construction!
